Our queen has died.May she rest in peace . I saw the Queen face to face when I was seven years old. I was a majorette and marched whiled twisting batons I had on a white T-shirt blue shorts and a pair of White Plimsolls (pumps) I was the second youngest in the parade right at the very front and I will never forget that Proud moment . The car went by very slowly crowds cheered as our Queen did the Royal wave metres apart from where I was marching, that moment has stayed with me forever. Can you believe it In this current time many families are in a state of financial ruin. When people stop to think about friends and family members that they hadn’t seen for years and called them. So for this new year please continue checking on the neighbour next door, the elderly neighbour down the road, the sick or bereaved neighbour, friend or family members that you haven’t seen for weeks months. Today I was overjoyed when the guilty verdict came in, for the police officer that murdered George Floyd. So many will say what of all the others who’s lives have been taken at the hands of police officers. We cannot undo what has been done but what has come out of this case is an awakening. An awakening because people will no longer sit on the fence and except injustice. Hopeless and helpless that we can’t do anything about it because justice will not be served,Feeling that to them, it’s simply another black life. I was asked today “What’s so special about George Floyd’s death.? what of all the others that have been killed at the hands of the police. ? My answer to him was very simple, the world saw the others die and yes many stood up for the rights of those that have been murdered but the difference with Floyd‘s death is nine minutes. Nine minutes is a long time. Nine minutes gave him time to say He’s had enough . He could have noticed too much pressure had been applied ! He could have said to his partner let’s turn him over, he’s not breathing properly . He could have said , I can’t feel a strong pulse . He simply could have stopped and saved his life. Thats’s the difference nine minutes. He suddenly looked up at me and says “oh I didn’t think about it like that“ . WOW !!!!! that’s three rounds in the boxing ring. It was nine minutes for the world to watch George die in total Agony and people will now kneel in remembrance and say this is what happened in nine minutes. RIP

Reflections It’s hard to believe that a whole year has passed. A year in which we lived differently. We worked differently and we played differently. Many have found new loves ,new income streams, new ambitions and even new careers. Many have lost jobs, homes and loved ones. ❤️ May the lost love ones rest in peace.🙏🏼 We have learnt to be neighbourly and compassionate, how to really care for strangers . How to recognise others that put their lives on the line or go the extra mile to save others. The importance of family and friends, our faith and the determination to fight for the preservation of life . To stand or Neal for justice and Equality and to see value in every person regardless of race ,colour, sex or age. Now we are fast approaching the new norm, back to our jobs, back to our original lies, hopefully with a different mindset and different goals with the hope that we won’t have to revisit this Dark period in our lives again any time soon. Let us not forget all we’ve learnt.🙏🏼

Peaceful spaces Peace is still. Peace is quiet. Peace is balance. What I have learned from lockdown ? Find your peace in body, mind and spirit. Peace can be lonely and for some isolation. Peace brings perfect family time . Some of us are glad while others are going mad !! But in retrospect what could you have done differently. Moving forward what have you done differently ? Will you ever be the same again ? I hope not , for much has changed. Will you have the same value on your life or life itself. Will you still value others . will you still check on your friends and Neighbours and long lost family? What have we’ learnt. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed . We can change our life styles, Our spending habits, our social Habits, to work remotely, to Retrain and recondition our bodies and minds. The treasure in our mids The park !!!! became the heart of the country . It became the local gym, The local meeting point for family and friends. The family day out , the place family picnic 🧺 The date. The birthday party 🥳 Let’s us always appreciate our peaceful Spaces
