The Sikhs have long hair because the Sadhus (Brahmins) didn't cut their hair; like the Kshatriya they have a kirpan (dagger) to protect the innocent and fight injustice, they tend to work as farmers as Punjab is very rich in agriculture. In Hinduism you have 4 castes: Brahmin (priest), Kshatriya (warrior), Vaishya (businessman) and Shudra (farmer). Sikhism came about because people were discriminated against based on caste and there were too many rituals so Guru Nanak said Sikhs are ALL 4 castes.
