I hope this question doesn't come off as childish, but is trying to sleep or falling a sleep somewhat a form of meditation ? Either way i agree with what you are saying, thanks for the information, sounds pretty accurate.

I can't discriminate on other Christians because Psalm forbids it. But This one of the Greatest Lie of the World. Satan is definitely behind this. There's all types of meditation, Mantra Mediation, TM, etc. Those practices are dangerous because you're opening yourself to other spirits outside of Christianity. However meditation (breath control) under the believe of the Lord is totally opposite. You continue to pray and live under the Carnal mind, you're week upon temptation. I was taught that we need to meditate on Gods word repeating it over aned over to commit to memory and being aware that your fellowshiping with you Lord and Savior

I would invite you to look into centering prayer. You start with the intention to let God into your heart.
Also check into Daniel Seigel and the neuroscience involved in mindfulness.
Your associating meditating/centering prayer/mindfulness with negative energy is not helpful to anyone.
The people who have negative experiences may already have a mental illness, so you'd need to cite proof that meditating causes that. That's very disingenuous.
