Since the biological problems associated with long-duration space travel are pretty significant, AND the cost / timescale of terraforming are pretty "astronomical", it might seem that a degree of bio engineering (or bio-mechanical augmentation) would offer the best return on initial outlay. Should this be the case, then terraforming to an "Earth-like" standard may be no longer necessary and the significant reduction in cost (and possibly in project duration) may make "partial terraforming" (to a point where the world is habitable to those humans with the necessary augmentation) a more attractive proposition?
